The operational challenge
Scope management spans visits, processing checks and storage. A cabinet location alone does not explain the scope’s latest recorded processing activity, and a visit record alone does not show where the scope was hung.
The SurgiDat approach
SurgiDat GI Lab brings TagIT, scopes, cabinets, checklists and related functions into one workflow. Scope serial and alternate identifiers support scanning, while visit records and cabinet indicators provide linked operational context.
The value to evaluate
Identifiable visits and storage locations support everyday scope finding and review of recorded checks. Storage indicators give staff another operational cue when managing availability.
A practical workflow
Identify the scope
Scan or type the serial, alternate number or asset tag. Maintain the scope register with the appropriate identifying details.
Record the visit checks
Complete configured visit information, HLD, leak and channel checks and any displayed checklist.
Print the hang tag
Save the visit and print the hang tag when the required steps are complete, using the configured local printing setup.
Track cabinet storage
Assign the scope to an empty hook and review within-life, expiring and expired storage indicators.
An illustrative scenario
A scope approaches its configured storage expiry. The cabinet indicator makes the status visible to staff. An expired scope cannot be hung until it is reprocessed through TagIT, following the documented application workflow.
Measures for a facility pilot
- Completeness of sampled visit and checklist records
- Expired-storage exceptions and time to reprocessing
- Time required to locate a scope and its latest visit record
A focused starting point
Validate scope serials and alternate identifiers, configure checklists and storage-life rules, then test visit entry, hang-tag printing, cabinet moves and expired-scope handling with sample records.
Scope and interpretation
Recorded HLD and other checks document staff entries; they do not independently verify disinfection efficacy. Storage-life settings and clinical processing procedures remain the facility’s responsibility.
